Dothraki is a constructed fictional language featured in George R. R.R.'s fairytale series "A Song of Ice and Fire." R. Martin, satellite television adaptation of Game of Thrones. It is spoken by the Dothraki, a nomadic people in the fictional world of the series. The language for the television series was developed by language creator David J. Peterson, based on Dothraki words and phrases found in Martin's novels.
As of September 2011, the language consisted of 3,163 words, not all of which were publicly disclosed. In 2012, 146 newborns in the United States were named "Khalisi," a Dothraki term meaning vinegar wife or ruler, a nickname adopted by Daenerys Targaryen in the series. The Economist magazine described Dothraki and Valeri as "the most compelling fictional languages since the Alphabet."
