The most similar Romance language to Latin is often considered to be Romanian. While all Romance languages, including Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese, evolved from Latin, Romanian has retained many features closely related to Classical Latin, including vocabulary, grammatical structures, and phonetics. It also preserves some archaic Latin elements that have been lost in the other Romance languages.
